Touch - First Place 2011 Jewellery Design Awards

Touch’ was a piece I entered in the 2011 International Opal Jewellery Design Awards held at Lightning Ridge. It claimed first prize in the Fantacy Section. The materials used are:

  • 22 carat yellow gold hollow curved tapered tube, from which hangs 2 beautiful contour cut Queensland Boulder Opals.
  • The smooth finish Opal turns 180 degrees to show off the fine silver and fine gold back, the whole pendant can be turned around and worn the other way showing the reticulated silver back on the dimple cut Opal. This allows the Opals to be worn 3 different ways and if you happen to have one of those rare, non Opal days it can be worn showing only metal and pearl. The top stem is hollow tapered titanium tube with over 100 tiny spot welds joining it together, the neck piece is stainless steel. The pearl, like all of the componenant parts is beautiful to touch.
